It´s all in the lines

This is a sea monster that I´ve been working on. I like drawing the lines and filling them in, adding a few millimeter here and there. It makes all the change from a rigid, raw ink drawing.

The lines are like the skeleton of a full bodied drawing, making it able to move and flow. They show the water that bends the fins and the tilt of the monster´s head. The thickness of the lines makes some parts closer to the viewer and other parts further away, giving the monster more of a body instead of a two-dimensional outline.

Next week I will post the full color version. I´m thinking green, yellow and blue, something that depicts the splendor some water creatures have. Perhaps a pale blue background to illustrate the water. Also, I will write a bit about the monster´s habits and characteristics.
